Still going!

I've been so busy beading lately! I like to give Mother's Day gifts to my friends that are moms because it is hard to remember birthdays but Mother's Day I can always remember. Two years ago I knit gift bags and gave them Shannon's soap, and last year I totally got busy, so this year I decided to make some necklaces. What do you think:

Bead crazy!

I joined the Stitch Marker Exchange, and it got me back into beading! I've made tons of stitch markers recently, and even made another necklace! I just may make a few more this week ...

More beading!

So I started off beading by making stitch markers. Then I made earrings. Most recently I made many necklaces as teacher gifts for my kids' teachers:

But when I was doing some spring (winter) cleaning, I found a working watch face that I bought at Michael's so yesterday and today (I had to keep remaking it to make it fit) I made this:

The only problem is that tonight it broke! I got a bit worried when I was buying new beading wire and it suggested #2 crimp beads or #1 crimp tubes or something like that, and I thought maybe my crimp tubes were too small, so I bought new ones. I don't know if I'm using the wrong sized crimp tubes or if I'm not crimping them right. So far (knock on wood) my necklaces haven't broken, just the watch. Any suggestions?

Beader to be!

I finally have a picture of my son beading! This was so long ago that he made these bracelets (and a few rings). I think they're still floating around somewhere.

Hello From Australia!

Hello,

Just a quick post to introduce myself.

This is a necklace I finished a while back, with Swarovski Black Diamond and Jet

Beads and center bead of black Onyx (I think)

It has just recently been given to its recipient. She liked it too!

New Necklaces!

Last weekend I was able to attend the Bay Area Bead Extravanganza and I was totally blown away by the great selection. I may have gone a little bit overboard on my purchases, though really, when it comes to beads is there even such a thing? ;) Anyway, I made a couple necklaces with some new supplies!

This one was made with some raspberry glass beads (the large faceted ones), some smaller glass pinky swirled ones and raspberry E beads. The pendant is from Green Girl Studios, a company whose products I have been lusting after for a long time. (A pendant I bought is on the cover of the new Stringing Magazine - the current issue totally excellent, by the way, worth a look) The back of this pendant has a Helen Keller quote etched on it.

This one has fiery red glass beads from the show and some other beads I got at Michael's. The leaf I got at the show, and it is one of those leaves that used to be a real leaf. I'd never seen any in this particular color, though, and I thought it would make a really beautiful fall-themed necklace.

Here's a closeup of the leaf:

Thanks for looking! :)
